Thursday HW 6/21/18
1. Bring your writing journal, yearbook, name tag from your chair and anything you have left in your desk home. *Next week you can bring your yearbook back for more kids to sign it.
2. Share your Important Envelope with your family- report card, diploma, alternative assessments, etc. Please wait until you have a private moment outside of 261. :)
2. Remember to bring your cap (can decorated it) & gown with you tomorrow. Come to school at 8:20am and come directly to our classroom. We will not pick you up at 8:20 in the yard.
3. Graduation starts at 9am.

Become the athlete you always wanted to become! You can dress like your favorite athlete, wear your favorite team apparel(jersey, hat, socks, shorts, etc.), you can dress ready to participate in your favorite sport… soccer, yogi, skating, dancing, basketball, quidditch, tennis, running, etc.
6. 5th Grade Water fight- last period. Bring a towel & swimsuit/change of clothes. Wear the same shoes we used to run around in at our class picnic. NO water guns for this one. Only water jug, bottles, or spray bottles.

3. Reading - Book Buddies - You should be thinking of and making a small gift for your book buddy - a card or bookmark or something else. We can laminate the bookmark in class if you want to. We will be giving them our gifts next Tuesday, June 12.

Weekend HW 3/23/18
1. Read the article on the March For Our Lives. Be ready to talk about it on Monday.
2. Join the PS 261 group at the March for Our Lives NYC march, tomorrow. Meet at the school entrance at 10 am so we can head up to the march in Manhattan together. If you can't make it by 10 am or it's inconvenient for you we have a second meet up location by the march. At 11 am we will meet at W 77th and Central Park West (Central Park side of the street). It's recommended to travel up the east side of the park and walk over as the entrance from the street will get clogged with many people.
3. Yearbook Art - Ms. Haya is calling for artwork for the Yearbook. Please submit your short poems or small black and white drawings. You can give them to her or place them in her mailbox (Haya Moline) in the office by Thursday, March 29.

4. No Place for Hate Walkout: Whole School walk out at 8am-8:20am. 5th grade silent walk out at 10:15am to show solidarity with all the other students across the country walking out at the same time. Parents are welcome to join us at either walk.
Poster Making:
You can create a small poster - 8 ½ x 11 (regular paper size) or 9 x 12 (small construction paper size) to carry for our grade 5 silent walkout. Or to tape to your shirt. If you have poster board you go for it.

Break HW 2/15/18
1. Changemaker Project is due the day we get back from break. See Changemaker Project Outline/Directions, Research Questions and Rubrics.
(In your reading folder, on class website and in an email to your families).
**Some students might have started their project already. It's important that they finish their assigned reading on the person and answering the research questions before they tackle the project.
Choose one of the following formats to complete your Change Maker project. Projects may either be typed or written neatly by hand.
2. Read-a-Thon: Reading fundraiser for over break for the non-profit, FirstBook. See directions and fundraising sheet in your mailbox. The class that reads the most minutes get a Pizza Party. Students who read more than 360 hours get a pin.
**Make sure reading is fun over break. It shouldn't feel like a chore. Read for enjoyment. If you do any reading towards your Changemaker Project record it for the Read-a-Thon too.

1.The PS 261 Lightning Post Office begins on Monday. This is your last one! Have fun with it. Send letters to past teachers, friends in other classes and grades, your book buddy, a sibling, after school counselor, etc. If you send a letter make it meaningful… write a poem, draw a picture with an explanation, write them as tory, or just why they are an amazing human being.

2. Join the PS 261 group at the March for Our Lives NYC march, tomorrow. Meet at the school entrance at 10 am so we can head up to the march in Manhattan together. If you can't make it by 10 am or it's inconvenient for you we have a second meet up location by the march. At 11 am we will meet at W 77th and Central Park West (Central Park side of the street). It's recommended to travel up the east side of the park and walk over as the entrance from the street will get clogged with many people.
